This weekend

Ava and I had a good weekend overall. I think she was a little bored at times because she wants me to play with her ALL of the time and I just can't. I think I literally did 10 loads of laundry this weekend. The cats brought in fleas and I had to take everything apart and wash it and put flea medication on them. It was a hassle. Also, I think that the house got too dirty for Dave which has only happened about twice in our life together!! :) He helped me pick up and put stuff away. I about fell out! Ava has destroyed the house again so it is not a big deal but atleast the dishes and laundry are done.

Yesterday, Ava and I went to Lowes (hardware) with the rest of Garner/Clayton area and we got tomatoes, basil, and hot peppers for our garden. I also found some Columbines for 0.75 a pot on clearence(they were originally 2.95). I love Lowes clearence plants. The Columbines are perennials (they have already bloomed for the season) but I can be patient for a deal! Last year I got a ton of Hostas on clearence for 0.50 a pot and they are doing great. Anyway, today we planted the garden and I am excited to make my salsa and pesto.

Yesterday we also "introduced" the little chicks to the big chicks in hopes of harmony so that I could get them out of my kitchen. I watched them for a few minutes and Rose (older girl) really started bullying one of the little girls by pecking at her and throwing herself at the little guy so I crawled into the coop and got the little ones out. Today, Dave RELUCTANTLY built me a teenage coop for the little ones. He was so mad at me for wanting one after he just built this fancy coop. I just could not stand to see the little ones getting pecked at. Dave spent a good bit of money on the first coop and he did want to spend an equal amount on another one. He used all of his scrap plywood and we had some coupons for Lowes he used for 2x4s and hardware cloth. He worked on it ALL day today (he stopped working at 9:00pm) and it is all finished. He said that he was embarrased to show his woodworking buddies because he really patched and scrapped it together. I think it looks great. It even has a plexiglass window in the roost part of it. I will post a picture of it later.

Hmmm what else. After I finished my chores, Ava and I played with her Littlest Pet Shop toys for a little bit and our Cat Pickles joined us. We dressed Pickles up and had a great time. Here are some pics:

Our weekend

Ava and I had a fun weekend. Saturday was beautiful (about 80+ degrees) so I set up one of her baby pools and she played a long time in it. She was supposed to let the sun warm it up and play in it later that afternoon but she could not wait. She said she did not mind.

I finished painting the the second of the two sheds we have while Ava played outside. Dave bought the wrong kind of paint (oil instead of Acrylic) for the second shed and I am a little bummed because it is a little orangier than the first shed but it still looks good.

I have a spring fever and want to start planting my garden and flowers. I need some money to do all of this so I am waiting until next month.

Ava is an incredible chick handler and we decided that they like her better than me. She picks them up and they don't make a fuss. She is really good at it.
We are still putting the chicks out for some outside time when the weather is nice. They still have a few more weeks before they are ready to be moved off of my kitchen table and be on their own.
One of the younger older girls finally laid an egg! We now have two egg layers out of the three grown ups. The egg was so cute. It was tiny. Once the other younger older girl starts laying I will probably average 2-3 eggs a day.

Today, Ava and I went to Marbles Childrens Museum and she had a ball. I was a little worried that she had seen it all because we have been there a few times. They have changed the exhibits and there was so much more to do since they first opened.
She could of easily stayed for another hour or two.

Later this evening Ava started running a fever. Poor Ava.

Dave's Birthday

I have not posted in a while and I am getting caught up. Dave's birthday is April 6 and my grandmother' birthday is the same day. The funny thing about this is that Dave's sister has the same birthday as my other grandmother. Wierd Huh? Anyway, it was my Gaga's 90th birthday. She lives with my Aunt in Charleston, SC and they drove up to celebrate. Ava was so sweet with Gaga. It was so cute! Ava still carries around her "Gaga blanket" which is a blanket that Gaga had knitted for Ava when she was born. Ava has received tons of blankets and that was the one she took a liking too. She still has to have it whereever she goes. It goes to daycare with her every day and she has to sleep with it every night.

Dave had a good birthday and racked up on presents. He is so spoiled. Saturday we had an italian style dinner which was excellent (my Gaga is from Italy so it is a tradition with my dad's side of the family). It was complete with lasagna which is Dave's absolute favorite meal. Sunday, we all went out to eat brunch at this wonderful place downtown called Basics. It is so good.

Ava's School Picture

Boy, I have been quiet for the last couple of weeks. Here is an update.

Ava had her school picture a couple of weeks ago and my mom found this beautiful white Strasburg dress at a yard sale for a dollar and when mom gave it to me, I knew it was picture worthy. Side note: Whenever I am in Wilmington and it is a Sunday, you see all of the little girls and boys going to the Presbyterian church in their Strasburg outfits and I think it is so cute.

Anyway, Ava was excited about wearing the dress. It was white cotton and I had to iron it. I am TERRIBLE at ironing. My grandmother used to iron her sheets and took pride in her ironing. Me on the other hand did not inherit this gene. The next day, Ava goes in her room to put it on and she comes out wearing the white dress, and pink striped knee socks! I tried to talk her out of them and she looked at me and said "mom, this is me, it's MY picture." How am I supposed to argue with that? One of her teachers talked her into taking the pics without the knee socks so they will not make an appearence. I also braided her hair and second guessed myself after I did it. She has really fine hair and it was falling out of the braid when we left the house. I put hairspray on it and she thought it was really cool. Also, she had managed to get a tiny scrape that morning right between the eyes and it was bleeding a bit. I was so sad because it was bleeding enough to show up in a pic. Her three year old class teacher had a compact and we were able to cover it (hopefully) because I want those pictures!!!!!
