From Dave: On the way home from school today Ava asked me what a Custodian was. I told her it was someone who takes care of you and a fancy name for a Janitor (someone who cleans up after you). She replied my Mom is a Custodian.... Well yes she is, and I must be chopped liver.

From Audrey: I do feel like a custodian but in Ava's "About me" book, ALL of the the pictures she drew were of you and her. None of mommy :( SO now I feel like chopped liver.

We all had the crud and wanted to die....

As soon as we got back from Wilmington, I felt Ava's head and she felt hot. She was complaining that her stomach hurt. Sure enough she had a fever and had to stay out of school for a few days. Dave and I proceeded to get sick and I spiked a 105+ fever. I thought I was gonna die. We are still all coughing and trying to get over this bug but it put a hurting on us.

Wilmington Fun!

Ava, the dog, and I went to Wilmington this weekend to see my parents. I just love it there. I love being with my mom and dad. There is nothing more comforting to me. It just happened that is was Riverfest this weekend and my brother and I took Ava downtown to watch the fireworks. We met up with some amazing friends of ours and got to sit outside at a local restaurant and watched the fireworks. Ava LOVED all the attention and she was quite the party girl. There was a band playing bluegrass/old country songs and it was so much fun.

Meanwhile, back at home, Dave worked on a blanket chest for me and enjoyed 24+ hours to himself.

Ava's best friend

Ava is a loner. She gets this from her parents. She did bond with one girl at daycare that she has known since she was 6 months old. Her name is Emily. They have been best friends since Ava could speak (about 2.5 years old). Dave and I always question the strength of childhood friendships but Emily is all Ava talks about. Now that Ava has started Kindergarten, Emily goes to a different private school (which KILLS me b/c if she had gone to public school, they would have gone to the same school). We were able to get the girls together a couple of weeks ago at a local festival. The girls were in heaven seeing each other. I have never seen Ava so happy. It made me a little sad.
