Getting better...I think

I got my stitches taken out today and what a relief! My nose looks a lot better with the stitches out. My finger is still messed up. I have an appointment later on in the week but I was told to keep calling to try to see if someone cancelled their appt so I can take their spot.

Dave had to stay at home with Ava this morning. Dave had left for work and she crawled into bed with me while I was half asleep. She said "Mommy, I can't open my eye." I looked at her and her left eye was red and completely swollen shut. I had to get my stitches out and had to get my car worked on AND do some stuff at work so there was no way I could deal with this. Dave came home and took care of her. The DR. could not decide if it was a skin infection or poison ivy so she prescribed both a steroid and an antibiotic. This evening her eye was starting to look better.
The Dr. suggested not going to the pool today so Ava was bummed out about that. I will take her tomorrow.

I think I need an assistant.

I am exhausted

Memorial day has left me exhausted. Friday my friend Nicole came to visit and Saturday I had the gang over to see her. We had sooo much food. It was great!! Dave grilled hotdogs, bratwurst, and hamburgers. Sunday, the pool opened up and Dave took Ava for a few hours so that Nicole and I could have some time together. I showed he how to sew a grocery/tote bag. We made two and she was happy. We also watched the first episode of "the bachelorette" that I had Tivo'd. Nicole is the best to watch shows with. We crack each other up.

I took Ava to the pool for hours today. The pool wears me out. It is a combination of the sun and water that just makes me want to sleep. I was not pretty with my taped up nose and splinted finger so hopefully I did not scare too many people off.

I will be excited when I am all healed.

I am officially broken

I went for the MOHS procedure to remove the skin cancer from my nose. It was lengthy. We left the house at 6:15 to be on the North side of town at 7:15. I was out of there at 11:15. I have a bunch of stitches in my nose and I get those removed next Friday.

I came home and was making the bed in the guest bedroom. It is a really hard bed to make because it is against the wall. I was putting on the fitted sheet and I heard my middle finger pop. I looked at it and the tip of my finger was stuck in an angle. It was hurting and did not look right at all. I went back to the Dr. and 1.5 hrs later I have a broken tendon in my finger. I have an appointment with the hand surgeon next week. My insurance is not that great and I am worried how much this is going to cost me.

A Chicken Blog

I had made the decision last week to bathe the chickens because their feathers got really dirty after eating half a watermelon I sat out for them. My friend Shelly offered to help me as long as I did not fuss at her for how she washed them (she deeals with poultry all day long as is not as light handed as I am). I agreed and she came by this afternoon. Before she came I made a decision not to bathe the chickens because Rose (the hen with the worst watermelon head) was looking much better. I did still want to spray them down with Adams spray for mites so I was able to easily grab Rose and do it and Shelly was able to grab Black Betty and we sprayed her. Miss Prissy is too smart to be captured so I will have to keep trying.

I also locked the cats up and let the three chicks and Rose out to roam free range. The chicks would get spooked and run into the woods and I was worried that they were going to be too hard to be put back up so they had to go back into their coop. I let Rose roam around the yard for about an hour. She had a great time. I gave her a banana (which she loved) and she followed Ava and I around the yard pecking and having a great time. I thought it was wonderful.

If I can get the cats inside all at the same time (they are free range as well), I will let Rose out again.

The chicks are getting so big. I need to put another pic of them up. They are getting all white feathers. Ava and I like to pick them up and hold them. They still hate it but we do it anyway.

Wear your sunscreen

A few months ago I noticed a spot on the end of my nose. It got a little bit bigger over time and it did not go away. I went to the dermatologist and she took a biopsy. She said that they would call me in a couple of weeks if the results came back cancerous and if everything was fine that they would send a post card. Well, I checked my messages this morning and sure enough they had called. The spot came back as basal cell carcinoma which if you are going to have skin cancer this is the one you want. I was OK with it until I got home. It hit me that I can't afford cancer! We are pretty strapped as it is and now I have to go get a special procedure in which they scrape off skin cells layer by layer, go check them for cancer and then keep scraping until they get every cancerous cell layer. They do it this way because if you take too much it will leave a scar. My mom had it done a couple of months ago for spot on her nose.

I think this is going to cost a pretty penny (atleast $300 and 20% after that).
Plus, I have to take a picture of it because when I finally get an appointment with these people the spot will have healed up from when I had the biopsy. I feel a little wierd having Dave take a pic of my nose.

So, wear your sunscreen. You really don't want to be bothered with this. I got a nice bottle of Neutrogena SPF 55 for my face. I have always worn makeup which has SPF in it but I guess that does not cut it.
I have been good about loading Ava up with sunscreen too. She gets the Neutrogena spray on her body and SPF 55 on her face. She likes it so I am lucky.

I hate cleaning!

Whenever I clean, I get in a terrile mood.It just puts me in a bad mood. Everytime.
I have most of my house clean because company is coming! If only it would stay that way. It makes me really really happy that I do not live in a big house.
