Happy New Year!

I feel a little bit like a machine because there are so many things I want to do in addition to being a mom and having a full time job. I think making a list may help me from losing my mind!
I read somewhere that you were supposed to list what your goals were and slowly work to achieve them. So let it be....
1. Wash the outside windows
2. Make something with every scrap of fabric
3. Get new carpet for living room
4. Make new curtains for the living room
5. Re-Upholster the loveseat.
6. Replace the chair in the LR with something else.
7. Repaint the front door
8. Repaint the porch rails
9. Restore the back porch
10. Make a dust ruffle
11. Make new curtains for my bedroom
12. Paint BR furniture
13. Get a new LR rug
14. Make a Dust Ruffle for Ava
15. Get new dining room chairs
16. Finish decorating Ava's BR
17. make a bottle house
18. Find a better use of our "wood room"
19. Clean the basement

It has been over a year....

It has been over a year since I have blogged. All of my precious chickens died and it is just me, my husband, wonderful daughter, cats, and dogs all nestled in 5.34 acres.

If you move the little couch table Dave built for me while I was nursing, Malibu will jump on the couch and snuggle with me. He is so sweet (and grumbling because I stopped petting him to blog). Anyways, I like his company. He is a sweet, sweet soul. I worry because he is going on 12 years old and "his time" could be around the corner. He loves us. He is so in tuned with every move we make and is way more observant than we could ever think to be.

I guess stuff has happened in the last year. I lost my grandma. She was MY grandma. We called her Gaga and she lived to be 93 years old and she was just the best grandma ever! I cannot even begin to put into words how special she was to me. My parents both worked full time when I was growing up-my dad traveled for his job and my mom held a full time job. My grandma and grandpa were there for us when the bus dropped us off every afternoon. She always had snacks and dinner ready for us and if she ever complained about watching us we never knew about it. All we knew was that we were loved 100%. What else can you ask for? In her last couple weeks she was still hanging in there.

Spring Break

I am pretty sure that Ava had the best day of her life today. This week is her spring break from school and because we do not get this week off work, Ava went to a local camp. Today, they took a field trip to Chuckie Cheese. She was in heaven. I have never taken Ava to such a place and she was able to run around like crazy.

Tomorrow they are going to see a new movie out about dinosaurs. She made 4 new friends and one of them hugged her when she left and made sure that she was going to be there tomorrow.

Dave brewed beer with chickens

Dave and I really like our chickens. They have pretty much ruined our backyard with all their scratching and pooping BUT it is worth it. They are all so fun to watch.

Dave has been on a beer brewing kick lately and he brewed a batch last weekend with the chickens :)

Possum in the Chicken Coop!

Happy Valentines Day first of all. I went to let the chickens out and there was an ugly possum in the chicken coop! I was horrified. I mustered up the guts to open the coop door and ran inside to get Dave. He took care of the situation! It is times like this I am extra happy I have a big strong husband to take care of stuff like this!!!!

Dave got me chocolates and a card for Valentines Day. It would be fun to go out but we fear that restaurants will be crazy and it babysitters are expensive. He got Ava a card and the beautiful pink bear that she has not let go of since he gave it to her.

We also got some more snow! It was perfect. It was just enough to make a snowman but not enough to mess up the roads.

Oh yeah, much to my surprise all of the chickens are OK. They just spent the night with a possum. I cannot believe the possum did not kill the chickens. It really is a miracle.

Happy Valentines Day!

Ava had to go to School on Saturday

Poor Ava had to go to school on a Saturday due to the inclement weather we had last week. It was nice for me and Dave because we got the morning to relax and watch grown up TV!
I ventured out to a Poultry show with my friend while Dave stayed at home. I thought all of these years that Ava was holding me and Dave back from doing things fun together on the weekends but I was reminded today that Dave wants to do, well nothing, on the weekends and I must fend for myself. I do not sit still very good AT ALL so I like having something to do.

Oh well. Ava was fine. She had a good day at school. I had a fun couple hours at the Poultry show and I guess Dave had fun doing, well, nothing.

We Got Snow!
